Carleton Sheets
Carelton Sheets is another self-proclaimed real estate guru and famous infomercial king who has been around for over 20 years. He specializes in teaching the no-money-down strategy when purchasing properties and claims he can show how this can be done easily. Just like many other so-called 'real estate gurus' Carleton Sheets makes all of his money from selling his courses and not from actually practicing his no-money-down strategies. He makes it seem like anyone can become a millionaire using his products when, in reality, only a small percentage of people would succeed. And those people would succeed because of hard work and perseverance, and not because of Carleton Sheets' sub-par course. Carleton Sheets is currently promoting the "World's Greatest Wealth Builder Booklet" for only 9.95. I bought it out of pure curiosity and quickly realized that I just paid ten bucks to be put on his sales call list. I started receiving calls before I even got his course in the mail and the sales people were basically telling me that I couldn't really be successful unless I purchased the "Wealth & Empowerment Training Seminar" for $799.95 as well as the services of a professional coach for about $2,000. The information contained in Carleton Sheets' courses is also pretty much worthless. Any of it can be found for free from your local library or internet resource or even just thinking about real estate. For example, Sheets advises that the best properties to buy are ones that are being foreclosed. Well who doesn't know that! The point of all no-money-down real estate strategies is that its easy to understand what you need to do, but it's incredibly difficult to actually pull it off (and impossible in some cases depending on the part of the country you live in) and can typically be done only in a down market. Carleton Sheets' strategies are also often outdated because they are the same ones he's been preaching for 20 years and now that the market is so much more competitive they have even less chance of making you successful. Carleton Sheets also does a couple of other things that really annoy me. He updates his course every year or two and gives it a new name even though it's basically been the same course for the last 20 years with some minor rewrites. He also claims his is in the 'Real Investor's Hall of Fame' when no such thing actually exists. Just a sham website that only requires a $150 fee and adds your name to a list that Carleton Sheets attempts to pass of a legitimate. I don't waste my time with fake real estate gurus because I found something that's a lot better. This opportunity has changed the way I think about making money.
