Skybiz was an online business for three years in more than two hundred countries and with more than two million web sites. The main business of Skybiz was to sell web site programs or WebPaks. The company recruited many individuals over the Internet to sell such WebPaks. Skybiz claimed you could earn huge profits through such sales. Therefore, you had to promote such sales. Besides, the scheme at Skybiz insisted on you selling the web site program to a minimum of two people before qualifying for any compensation. After sometime, it became necessary to sell at least nine WebPaks before being eligible to receive your compensation. However, Skybiz is essentially a pyramid scheme. You can understand a scheme to be a pyramid one if you have to sign up many more people under you and greater importance is on such signing of people rather than on the sale of the product or service. The returns sound too good to be true on pyramid schemes. Skybiz charged $125 for joining the scheme as the cost of buying an e-Commerce Web Pak. It is a charge, which you pay to recruit more people downline. Skybiz wants you to invest in more Web Paks. The company projects that you can increase your earnings by investing in such more Web Paks. Although Skybiz claims to offer lucrative avenues for you to earn, yet it is not an advisable scheme at all. A pyramid scheme does not offer good returns; rather it only offers good money to the people at the top. Those in the downline earn nothing. Based on the many different allegations, FTC closed Skybiz in 2001 permanently. Those people having already paid for the sites could keep it open for a year. However, after 2002, FTC has not permitted anyone to sign in at Skybiz. The main allegation of FTC is that Skybiz does not have any valid product. Counterargument by Skybiz people was that the web site and the training thereof are the products of the company. Nevertheless, FTC does not recognize any such claims people cannot buy any product without any proper compensation plan.
