Telemarketing Fraud
Telemarketing fraud refers to any particular scheme using the telephone and run with the main intention of defrauding people. Telemarketing fraud companies incite people and persuade them to send money for the schemes. You are asked to donate money or partake in a special offer, buy specific goods or services, and sometimes these offers are used to initiate fraudulent telemarketing. Telemarketing fraud companies make their business appear genuine by justifying the worth of their offer. They function by asking you to send the cost of the product before shipping it to you. They therefore pressure you for immediate payment for office supplies, magazine subscriptions, and various other investments. Since people are smart enough to refuse payment if the product is not what they expected, these companies insist on advance payment. Some telemarketing frauds make you act faster by offering special discounts or other offers but only for a limited period of time. People therefore rush to buy but end up losing their money or receiving products that are not worthy of the cost. Some telemarketing fraud companies also impersonate legitimate companies falsely. Often telemarketing fraud companies resell a consumer by offering additional prizes, special prize promotion schemes, and other enticing offers. Mostly, these companies do not target consumers in their state for the obvious reasons. Although it is hard to believe, there are quite a few telemarketing fraud companies operating in many states of North America and Canada. Normally, telemarketing fraud companies operate things like investment schemes, charity, Internet-related schemes, lottery schemes, credit card and credit-repair schemes, office-supply schemes, etc... These companies often do not have any connection with any legitimate charity organizations as they claim. Needless to say they collect all donations for themselves. Some others donate very little amounts (such as 10%) to few charity organizations in an attempt to portray their legitimacy. You can also encounter such telemarketing fraud companies on the Internet. Spam e-mails are a common tactic of such Internet schemes. There are many magazine promotion schemes also available as telemarketing frauds. Be cautious in your dealings with new companies or companies over the phone. You can check with local consumer organizations and other federal organizations to protect yourself from most forms of telemarketing fraud.
