Nigerian Scam

The term "Nigerian Scam" is used for any of the scams that have been mushrooming up in Nigeria in recent years.  Nigeria has earned great infamy because of various scams usually falling in the category of advance fee fraud.

Nigerian scams are also often referred to as Nigerian fraud, or Nigerian internet scams, or Nigerian 419 scam, or just simply a 419 scam.

The reason it got the name "419" is because that is the code for a law passed in Nigeria especially made to try and help prosecute specifically these types of criminals.

Here's a common one that I have received personally multiple times.  You'll receive an e-mail from a Nigerian banker who says a huge fortune has been left to the sate after its owner died, and he needs your help your help to sneak it out of the country.

For this he will pay you as much as 50% of the fortunes with can be as great as 100 million dollars.

In this Nigerian money scam you are then urged let him use your bank account for transferring money.  Once you give them enough information you are obviously ripped off and realize there is no 100 million dollar fortune.

There are countless stories about Nigerian scams online that are victimizing people despite many warnings.  This scam is spreading and many African nations, including Nigeria, Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Benin, Liberia, Sierra Leone and South Africa are major hubs of Nigerian scams.

The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a consumer alert about the Nigerian scams.  It articulates, "If you receive an offer via email from someone claiming to need your help getting money out of Nigeria ...or any other country, for that matter ...forward it to the FTC at spam@uce.gov."

The United States Department of the Treasury advises the general public to email the 419er documents to Task Force Main in DC 419.fcd@usss.treas.gov.

Recently I've been working with a tried and tested business opportunity that's really made a difference in my financial life. It's probably like nothing you've ever heard of before and it may surprise you to see just how easily it'll help you create personal wealth.
