Envelope Stuffing
An envelope stuffing scam is a work at home program in which advertisers or companies usually promise to pay you just for stuffing envelopes at home. These envelope stuffing companies usually offer to pay between $5 and $12 for every envelope. They also promise to provide you with all of the envelope stuffing supplies and postages. You will usually be required to pay a small registration fee to get into the job, but once you do you will find out that there's actually no employment in it and that the whole thing is actually a well designed scheme to get your money! People that have already had bitter experiences with envelope stuffing may better help us understand this scam properly. Let's look at some former customer's experiences. Jennifer from Canada Hamilton, Ontario, says, "I sent for my envelope stuffing kit & haven't made a dime on it. It is a total scam." Samantha Gouldner from Alaska USA, writes, "I sent 40 dollar registration fee Plus 25 extra dollars to recieve my kit overnight mail. My kit consisted of a couple of papers stapled together informing me I would not be stuffing envelopes as the ad and the flyer had stated and they would not be providing the envelopes stamps or addresses. Instead I was to place ads and hope people would send me they're money. I am not going to advertise my address to the world. I am not going to pay for a post office box. I am not going to pay for avertising. I already lost 65 dollars to a scam. I refuse to lose anything else!" A girl from Greenville, NC writes, "I'm a college student and envelope stuffing signs are everywhere on campus. I hardly have extra money but I sent a registration fee of 40.00 to one of these companies, I never received any information." Nicole from Dover, TN, says "I sent in 19.95 to Best American Marketing and NEVER EVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK FROM THEM and what's worse there isnt anything you can do about it!!!!" S.C. from Kentucky says, "I sent my money to META and like every one else all I got was a piece of paper saying to place ads in the paper trying to get people to call me to stuff envelopes. You know no one is going to call me for work. I think it all is a scam. Also I got meta information from work-at-home-jobs which also I payed for 40.00 so in all I've been out 65.00. For nothing." |
My Opinion: The majority of the above responses articulate that envelope stuffing is a scam and I reckon that the "voice of the people" is one that is trustworthy. Work at home jobs that are rather magnificently advertised as "Easy Work and High Pay" are often nothing but mere tricks to lure people. Envelope stuffing is in fact a way for shady companies to scam people that are just looking to make some extra money by working from home. They are successful because they use very catchy ads that often hook unsuspecting visitors. The key traits of all such baiting ads are that they make unrealistic promises of quick money with little effort and particularly focus on the money factor. They usually don't offer their contact email address or phone number. They demand the registration money in advance and the address offered to send payment is a mailbox, not a physical address. Companies or promoters involved in these scams are operating illegally. The Federal Trade Commission is actively targeting the larger envelope stuffing schemes. It has leveled charges against 77 work-at-home schemes in 17 states. I strongly advise people that they should keep themselves alert of these scams and should beware of companies that only provide contact information in the form of unattended toll-free numbers and no email address. Do not let yourself become easy prey of these questionable schemes. Remember an old saying "all that glitters is not gold" and try applying it on these ads.
