They can obtain this proof either by electronically reading and submitting certain data present on the card's magnetic stripe that is done automatically by most point-of-sale systems, by creating a manual imprint of the raised digits and symbols on the card with a manual card imprinter, or by reading the card's smart chip if it has one. The merchants should ask the customers to fax copies of both sides of the credit card. It will provide proof that the customer has possession of the credit card at the time of the order. The merchants should call customers to confirm whether or not the customer is a genuine cardholder. Sometimes the scammers submit the actual phone number of the person whose card was stolen. This is an excellent way to prevent credit card fraud, which can be cleverly used as a part of customer care service.
