Contest Scams
One day while net surfing I came across an advertisement on a poetry contest that was advertised by something like "Society of International Poets". The contest required paying a participation fee $69.95 and the winner was to get a "gold-lettered plaque" and a cash prize. I thought it's a good platform to exhibit my poetical skill, and registered for the contest. I also did mail the finest of my poems, but I tell you I didn't get any response from the society, which now I reckon was fake. The contest really duped and robbed me off my money. I felt so befooled that I couldn't even narrate my sob story to any of my friends. I didn't really want to be the butt of laughter. Now, whenever there's any talk about poetry, I feel like the most stupid cuckold. There are scores of such contests usually advertised as "Poetry Contest", "Writing Contest", "Free Poetry Contest" etc., on the Internet and in popular magazines or local newspapers. These contests usually lure the people by advertising big monetary prizes and publications. The masterminds of these contests care more about contestants' money rather than their artistic works. These contest or poetry contests are nothing but the "scams". These contest scams or poetry scams are nothing but the evil traps of "online pickpockets". These are deceitful contrivances of chisels and cheats. The majority of people who fall prey to these contest scams are highly credulous, gullible, trusting and unwary kinds of substances like me. These scams may have different faces, but their only objective is to make money deceitfully. These may have fair faces, but foul hearts. Sometimes you come across the lottery scams, the siblings of the contest scams. You get a mail advertising a lottery, and they generally require you pay between $29.95- $99 for 3 months or 6 month or even longer period, to enter the lottery. But, it's generally too late, when you really start grasping the things. Then you realize that you were sending the money to the company that never existed, and the things just leave you repenting over your own stupidity. I admit that there might be some genuine ones also but the fake and the genuine are so much intermingled that it's too touch to pick the genuine one. The main objective of sharing my bitter experience with you people is to alarm you, and make you cautious of these malicious scams. I have written this thing for general good. I just want to say that think twice, thrice or more, before going for these fake schemes. Beware of these "bloody cutpurses" and take very good care of yourselves. There's no need to waste your time and money on fake programs and empty promises to make easy money on the internet today.
